# 47 Circular

And a gentle rain began to fall...making circular ripples in the pool at the house where I work.

# 67 Daybreak

The sun was rising when I went out to get the paper this morning.  I took several pictures outside but I noticed after I came back in that  the colors just got brighter.  I took some from inside the storm door, then thought of going to the top of the stairs and shooting through the windows above the door.  I liked how the windows framed the sunrise.

# 188 Mechanism

This is the mechanism inside the Grandfather clock that I posted on January 1.

# 172 Lines

Someone hung their bird collection out on the line to dry.

# 76 Disguise

This Mourning Dove is trying to disguise itself as a part of this pile of leaves.

# 120 Freeze Frame

I caught this squirrel this morning just as it was leaping off the deck railing.

# 81 Downtown

Downtown Nashville, Tennessee

# 23 Big and Small

I came out of Walmart and saw this "small" red car parked beside my "big" green car.

For those having trouble commenting...

Not sure what the problem is or how to fix it.  I checked my settings and comments should be open to anyone and no hoops to jump through.  If anyone knows a fix, please let me know.  Sorry for the difficulty.

# 72 Design

Not sure what made these designs in the algae growing on the siding of our house.

# 98 Eyes

Don't you just love those puppy dog eyes?
This is Snoopy, my son's dog.  He is about 14 years old and is a Beagle/Squirrel Dog mix (or so we were told).

# 294 Spot

The "Yellow-shafted" form of the Northern Flicker has many spots on its chest.  The Flicker is a ground feeder, eating bugs and ants.  The "Yellow-shafted" form has yellow feathers under its wings and tail.  This one is a male, recognizable by the black mustache.

# 198 Mountain

This was the view from the front porch of the Conference Center at Roan Mountain State Park.

# 183 Many

Many Chipping Sparrows are feeding on the seeds on this stump in my yard.

# 125 Furry

This Eastern Grey Squirrel has a furry tail.

# 85 Eating

These Blue Jays are eating the seeds I put on a stump in our yard.

# 109 Fear

This White-tailed Deer in my yard today showed no fear of either our dog (about 30 feet away) or of me standing at the window (also about 30 feet away) taking its picture.

# 58 Contrast

I liked the contrast of the red Cardinal against the green pine tree.

# 297 Stand Out

This green water wheel at Roan Mountain State Park really stands out against the drab winter colors around it. I increased the shadows a little and added the border.

# 8 Aged

The lady I take care of is now aged 100.  I set the birthday banner inside the closeup of her 100, added a frame and adjusted the color a little.

# 208 Night

I looked out the window Sunday night and saw the moon peeking through the trees.  All I added was the frame.

# 283 Smoke

Smoke rising from one of the smokestacks at Kingston Steam Plant in Kingston, TN. I just added the border.

# 168 Landscape

This is the view from just below Carver's Gap, TN at an elevation just above 5000 feet.  The original was a bit blue from the snow and ice, so I adjusted the color a little and did a vignette effect and a frame.

Steve, here is the original for comparison.

#52 Cold

Our family gathered at Roan Mountain State Park in Roan Mountain, TN this week.  It had snowed the day before we got there.  The first morning we were there it was cold!

# 310 Sundown

I looked out the window and saw a beautiful sunset tonight.  There were orange colors to the left, but couldn't capture the whole scene.  I cropped a roof from the bottom and added the frame and watermark, but the color is straight from the camera.

#114 Flowers

It's unusual to see flowers blooming here in January, but the family I work for has Lenten Roses in their back yard that are blooming beautifully today. I softened the focus a little and added a frame.

# 50 Clock

It seemed fitting to start the New Year with a timepiece.

This Grandfather Clock was a gift to the lady whom I care for on her 93rd birthday.
